Solid

Solid gives businesses checking accounts, Visa debit cards and payments by ACH, wire, card and check, with the banking itself provided through a sponsor bank. Our UX/UI work for this fintech platform covers the web dashboard and the Wallet mobile app, both organised around the account.

On desktop, a left sidebar holds Overview, Transactions, Cards, Transfer Funds and Send Payments, while tabs along the top switch between accounts such as Receivables and Purchase, each with its balance. The overview leads with a black balance card beside two white shortcuts for moving and sending money. Cards are interface components too: virtual ones marked 'Limited use', a physical one showing available balance, label and spending limit, and a details drawer that slides over the card grid.

The mobile app opens by asking which mode to start in, TEST or LIVE, each flagged with a small dot in orange or green. Home then stacks the Receivables balance on a black bar, the Move Money actions, contacts shown as initials, and recent transactions.

Accounts are grouped by owner, a person or a company, with a subtotal per group, which keeps personal and company money visibly apart. History is split by month, and each row carries a tinted tag for the payment rail: ACH, Card, Wire or Check. Funding has its own screen with three routes: push by account and routing number with copy buttons, pull from another bank, or deposit a check by photographing both sides.

Each flow in the app asks for one thing per screen. Opening an account runs through wallet setup, with a toggle to send the card by mail, then personal address, personal details and an identity check that frames the face in a dashed oval. It ends on a confirmation that hands over the new account and routing numbers, with the sponsor bank disclosure in small print under the form.

Money movement keeps the same rhythm: choose source and destination, enter the amount, and land on a green tick that restates what moved and where. Check deposit asks for the payer, the amount and a photo of each side. Steps end on the same full-width black button.

The wordmark is a lowercase 'solid.' with a full stop, and the product follows its restraint. Screens work in black and white over light grey, and colour appears only when it carries meaning: green for money in and completed actions, red for money out, pastel tags for payment types, orange for test mode. Avatars are initials in grey squares rather than photos.

The physical card comes in white and grey with a black Visa mark, the virtual cards in black with the wordmark in the corner, so the two read differently in a grid. Product shots sit on grey stone, perforated metal and a liquid-chrome banner to stay inside the same range. On desktop, the Transactions page adds search, filters, export and a slim 'Connection restored' status bar.
